Yucatan adventures itinerary
DAY 1
You will visit the Great Mayan museum in Merida city, where you will admire the finest collection of Mayan pieces. Then you will visit the city centre exploring local markets, craft shops and prominent buildings. The day finishes with a walk in one of the most beautiful avenues of Merida, Paseo Montejo.
DAY 2
You will visit the Dzibilchaltún archaeological site and swim in its open sinkhole; then, you will be taken to Corchito Nature Park to ride a boat through a mangrove forest, watch flamingos and swim in sinkholes. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing on Progreso´s beach and walking its promenade.
DAY 3
You will go to Sisal, a small fisherman´s town with a beautiful beach. There, you will have the option to either take a boat tour or a kayak in Sisal mangles to swim in a water spring. You can spend the rest of the afternoon chilling on Sisal´s beach and strolling around its promenade, and by night you will return to Merida.
DAY 4
On this day, you will be taken to Santa Barbara Natural Park to visit three incredible sinkholes to reach by trek, cycle, or truk, a traditional way of transport from the area consisting of a wagon on rails pulled by donkeys. Afterwards, you will spend the rest of the day in Izamal town with some free time to chill out.
DAY 5
You will explore the jungle and find an abandoned pyramid on your way to an open sinkhole in Tekal de Venegas. Later, you will return to Izamal town to visit the San Antonio de Padua church and the Kinich Kakmo pyramid. Lastly, you will travel to San Felipe and camp on a lonely island.
DAY 6
You will return to San Felipe in the morning to take a boat trip to Ría Lagartos, a protected natural area to watch birds and crocodiles. Then we will drive you to a salt mine by the sea where the water turns pink. Then, you will arrive at the sinkhole Kikil for a swim and lunch, and in the afternoon, you will arrive at Valladolid city.
DAY 7
For your last day, you will visit Chichikan Park to enjoy sinkhole swimming and have a Mayan experience, including a mud bath and an energy cleansing by a shaman. Afterwards, you will visit the archaeological site of Chichen Itzá, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and finally, you will return to Merida.
